If you are a new guitarist, trying out a guitar in the music store may be intimidating. There may very well be other guitarists in the store who think they need to show off their skills. This can be intimidating; of course you'd like to be able to show off like this as well. However, stay focused. Your goal is to find the best instrument for you for the least amount of money.ake a minimum of two visits to the music store. Also, don't let the salesman intimidate you. You are the customer and you are the one in charge. Also, remember to recruit help if you need it. If you have a friend or family member that plays the guitar, take them with you to the music store and it can help you choose the guitar that is right for you.
If you come up against music store owners that frown on you tuning up the guitar or vigorously strumming, politely hand the guitar back to the owner and take your business elsewhere. Play something you are used to playing. Concentrate on how the guitar sounds and feels. Do not pay attention to the people who may be listening to you. Play every fret on the neck of the guitar and be sure that you don't hear any buzzing.
The majority of guitar company websites provide specifications for each of their guitars. You may also find additional information on the guitar you want to buy. There are websites available that can help you familiarize yourself with the companies and their instruments. Look online to find music stores near you. Think about visiting each store and trying the guitars they have for sale. Sometimes you may run into a store employee who does not want to give you a quote over the phone. If you say that you are about to purchase a guitar somewhere else, they will most likely change their mind. Note any differences in prices when calling music stores.
efore you get down to bargaining for the guitar you should ask if a guitar case is included. Ask if the guitar case is softshell or hardshell. A softshell guitar case costs less than a hardshell guitar case.
Try a few guitars when you return to the music store. If you feel like it, pretend you want to buy a cheaper guitar than the one you are really interested in. If a salesperson sells you a cheap guitar, they will get a small commission. Because of this, they will be more eager to give you a bargain on a guitar that is more expensive.
Don't make it seem that you are in a rush. Take your time and think about whether the guitar you researched is really the guitar you want.
Remember to never pay the list price for the guitar you want. In general, list prices are inflated. A lot of people find it difficult to bargain with a salesperson for a discount. It is not as difficult as it may seem. You can start by asking for the entire price, including the guitar, tax and the case. When they tell you, think for a moment and ask them what they can do to make the price a little cheaper. Have in mind, a price that you want to pay. It may be a good idea to try and get a 15 percent discount. If you know of a store where you know they are offering a lower price on the same guitar you want, let the salesperson know this. You may have to apply pressure to get your bargain but you can get used to doing this.
If the guitar you want is on sale or if it is already a low priced instrument, it will be hard to convince the salesperson to drop the price even more. If this is the case, you might want to ask if they could throw in some guitar accessories at no charge or at a steep discount. This may include items such as guitar strings, guitar polish, picks, or string winders. This may not be the discount that you want but it will be good to know you bargained successfully.

How To Tune A Guitar
We'll touch on a couple of the more effective methods on how to tune a guitar. Not necessarily the most popular as some methods, though extensively used, are considered 'bad habits' rather than genuine, effective guitar tuning alternatives. There are many different ways to approach guitar tuning.
The guitar standard tuning is as follows:
STRING - 6th String (bottom, bass, low) NOTE - E
5th String - A
4th String - D
3rd String - G
2nd String - B
1st String (top, treble, high) - E
Learn to attach the strings to the machine heads properly. Never try to tune down to a note. Stretch the strings and tune up to the note. Tuning heads have a certain amount of 'play' in them so make a couple of deep bends and then fine tune the string. Before tuning a suspect string, check it against both adjacent strings to determine which string is actually out of tune. The string you suspect may not even be the culprit. When tuning a guitar with a vibrato arm, tune the string, give the arm a good shake, stretch the string, give the arm another shake and fine tune.
Tune the treble (high) E string to an A440 tuning fork by holding your finger on the 5th fret, then tune the open B string to the open treble E string – listening to the interval of a fourth. It's easy to hear the fourth in that register.
Play the A note fretted at the 2nd fret of the G string, and compare it to the open treble E string – you're listening for a perfect fifth interval.
Fret the 2nd fret E note on the D string and compare it to the treble E string open. Double check this by fretting the E note on the 14th fret of the D string.
Now tune the 7th fret harmonic on the A string (an E note) to the open treble E string.
Finally, tune the 5th fret harmonic on the bass E string to the open treble E string.
This is a simple guitar tuning method that works well.
